These terms explain how you can use DisputeShield and what we expect from merchants, operators, and authorized users who rely on the service.
Overview
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of DisputeShield, including the website, Shopify app, integrations, and related services.
By installing, accessing, or using DisputeShield, you agree to these Terms and to any policies or supplemental terms that we reference here.
The service
DisputeShield helps Shopify merchants review order risk, organize evidence, and manage dispute workflows.
The service may include website pages, embedded Shopify app experiences, integrations, analytics, billing features, and support tools.
Accounts and access
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your credentials, and making sure only authorized users access your store and DisputeShield account.
- You must keep account details current and accurate.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account or through your authorized store access.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or use.
Merchant responsibilities
DisputeShield provides information and workflow support, but merchants remain responsible for business decisions and compliance obligations.
- Review app recommendations before fulfilling, holding, refunding, or submitting evidence.
- Make sure your policies, disclosures, and product information are accurate and lawful.
- Use the service in a way that complies with Shopify rules, card network rules, consumer law, and other applicable requirements.
- Confirm that any evidence, communication, or data you send through the service is accurate and authorized for the intended use.
Data and integrations
The service processes merchant, order, dispute, billing, and support data to operate risk review and evidence workflows.
When you connect Shopify or third-party services, you authorize us to access and process the data needed to deliver the integration you enabled.
- Shopify data may include orders, customers, fulfillment details, disputes, and platform event records.
- Connected tools may include support, billing, payment, and dispute providers you choose to connect.
- You remain responsible for the lawful collection, use, and sharing of data you make available through those integrations.
Billing and plan changes
Paid plans, usage caps, trials, and billing mechanics are governed by the pricing information shown on the site, in the Shopify App Store listing, or in your order flow.
If billing is processed through Shopify or another payment provider, their billing and payment terms may also apply.
- Fees are due as described in the plan or checkout flow.
- We may suspend or limit service for unpaid balances, chargebacks, fraud, abuse, or noncompliance with these Terms.
- We may change prices, plan limits, or packaging with advance notice where required by law or the payment platform rules that apply.
Availability and changes
We work to keep DisputeShield reliable, but the service may change as we improve features, fix bugs, respond to security issues, or adapt to Shopify platform requirements.
We do not guarantee that any feature will always be available, and we may add, remove, or modify functionality over time.
Third-party services
DisputeShield may connect to or depend on third-party services, including Shopify, payment processors, and support platforms.
Those services are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and availability commitments, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
Intellectual property
We and our licensors own the service, including its software, interfaces, branding, workflows, text, graphics, and underlying intellectual property.
Except for the limited rights needed to use the service under these Terms, we do not grant you ownership in any part of the service.
- You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the service except where the law allows it.
- You may not remove proprietary notices or misuse our branding.
- You retain rights to your own merchant content, customer data, and materials you submit to the service, subject to the rights you grant us to operate the service.
Acceptable use
You may not use the service in ways that harm us, other users, merchants, customers, or the integrity of the platform.
- Do not attempt unauthorized access, scraping, probing, or disruption.
- Do not use the service to send unlawful, deceptive, or harmful content.
- Do not bypass access controls, rate limits, or security protections.
- Do not upload or transmit malware, exploit code, or other harmful material.
Privacy
Our collection and use of information is described in our Privacy Policy.
By using the service, you acknowledge that we may process data as described in that policy and as needed to provide the service.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, to the extent allowed by law.
We do not guarantee that the service will prevent chargebacks, disputes, fraud, or financial loss, or that every recommendation or automated workflow will be correct for every merchant.
- You are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on them.
- You are responsible for your own legal, tax, and compliance decisions.
- To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DisputeShield and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the service in the period giving rise to the claim, or the minimum amount required by law, whichever is greater.
Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another party's rights.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for the service, or if required by law or platform rules.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute resolution, will continue to apply after termination.
Updates to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date on this page and take additional steps if required by law.
Your continued use of the service after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised Terms.
